Sound - analysis of Singin' in the Rain and A Clockwork Orange

Here is my analysis of how sound has been used in two films. I will be applying terminology learnt in lessons:

Synchronous and asynchronous sound is used in this section. Synchronous is used when the main characters are talking and at the start of the film they're watching. The film the main characters are watching quickly turns asynchronous though because the actors on the cinema screen's voices become out of sync with the video. Diegetic sound is used as you can hear the background music of the film the characters are watching at the cinema. Ambient sound was the background noise of the cinema.

Synchronous sound is used in this section, when the characters are talking or when they are attacking each other. Contrapuntal sound is used often when the four men are walking and Beethoven is playing in the background, as Alex imagines what he thinks of doing to his men. It contrasts the violence of the scene by playing an upbeat tune. Non-diegetic sound is used, again when they are walking, as no one can hear it (apart from maybe Alex, but not literally, it is just playing in his head). SFX is used when the men are attacking each other with the canes.
